Just look at that swirl…best of both worlds. Vanilla and chocolate unite for this Marbled Pound Cake. Super easy recipe with great results. The big trick is to remember not to over swirl or you end up without any swirl! Weird how adding more swirl makes you lose all the swirl.
Make sure to alternate adding the regular batter and the cocoa batter and then only pull your knife through a couple of times in each direction. I usually pull it through three straight lines the length of the pan and then pull it though in a S going the width of the pan.
Since loaf pans can vary in size, start checking at 50 minutes or when it starts to become golden on top.
Recipe
Marble Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ cup whole milk
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar until light a fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour and baking powder.
- Add the flour mixture and milk until well combined.
- Remove 1 ½ cups of the mixture and add the cocoa. Mix until combined.
- Alternate filling the loaf pan with spoonfuls of the regular batter and the cocoa mixture. Using a knife pull through the batter first the length of the pan a couple of times and then the width of the pan. The best swirling effect comes from pulling the knife through the batter only a few times.
- Bake in preheated oven for 50 – 60 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.

This looks great! The instructions say to add milk when you add the flour, but the ingredients list does not include milk. How much milk? And have you tried buttermilk instead of milk?

It is 1/2 cup of whole milk but I bet buttermilk would also be fantastic! I have update the recipe. Thanks so much for catching that error!
