Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with foil.
Lay out the crackers so they cover the baking sheet and set aside.
Melt butter on low in a medium sized pot and stir in sugar. Heat over medium / high heat while constantly stirring. Bring to a boil and continue stirring until thick and bubbly. (will begin to turn a caramel color)
Adjust the heat to medium/high and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Mixture will become frothy (thick and bubbly), continue to stir for another minute.
Pour frothy butter/sugar mixture over the prepared baking sheet of crackers.
Bake in oven for 12 minutes. The mixture will bubble as it bakes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with a layer chocolate chips.
Return baking sheet to the oven for 2 minutes.
Spread melted chocolate chip until smooth. and refrigerate for at least a 2 hours. Break into pieces.
OPTIONAL - sprinkle with sea salt, nuts or sprinkles!
Place in the fridge for at least a couple hours or until the chocolate has hardened.
Remove from the fridge and break into pieces with your hands.
Store in the fridge or freezer.
